Beauty and skincare favourites 2016: A roundup

Blogmas day 22. Here’s a roundup of all my 2016 beauty and skincare favourites!

Also, I really tried hard to capture Christmas in the photography –it’s an aspect of my blog I am always looking to improve and develop, and I am so envious of people that can assemble stunning flat lays. I always try to ask myself when taking product shots, “how can I make this photo better” and sometimes I get it, sometimes I don’t.

Garnier Ultimate Blends – Honey Treasures

Ever since first trying Garnier Ultimate Blends for the first time a couple of years ago I have loved the range, always snapping them up when I see them on special offer.

I took an interest to this particular Garnier Ultimate Blends set when I noticed the products focused on restoring strength. For whatever reason, maybe since starting to re-dye my hair I have noticed more hair loss after showering.

Since using this shampoo and conditioner, I don’t notice hair loss quite so much which makes me think this combination really works. I’ll definitely be persisting with them for a while yet to come.

Rimmel London sculpting palette

I reviewed this sculpting palette recently and I just love it, it’s such a great little compact of product which if you’re struggling for some last minute stocking fillers, will make a great gift.

The overall pigment and quality is just incredible and can be used all year round.

Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick in Bachelorette

When I was in America last year of course I hauled a load of  American beauty products back with me, two of the products being the Kat Von D liquid lipsticks. I purchased Vampira and Bachelorette, and it’s Bachelorette that I love the most.

It’s an incredible red colour which adds that much needed pop to an outfit, particularly over autumn and winter. The pigment is excellent and the product lasts all day without a hitch.

Sleek matte me liquid lipstick in Birthday Suit

Another liquid lipstick for you (and not the last either in this post), this year I finally tried the Matte Me range from Sleek. I’ve got Velvet Slipper and Birthday Suit and they are of super quality available on the high street.

Birthday Suit is my everyday staple, it goes with everything and lasts really well.

Bobbi Brown foundation stick in warm beige

I discovered this when I went to Bobbi Brown for my Bridal makeup trial and I’ve pretty much used it ever since. I love its lightness on the skin, its coverage, and how easy it is to blend and apply other products on top.

Dr Botanicals Moroccan rose superfood facial oil

I have a whole collection of facial oils that I have received in beauty boxes but the Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood facial oil, became an instant favourite in my collection.

It’s the perfect oil to apply after I take my makeup off when I get in after work. It’s light and feels amazing on my skin.

The Body Shop colour crush matte lipstick in Osaka Plum

I was thoroughly impressed when I tried this colour crush matte lipstick recently as its staying power was just something else. I definitely would recommend checking out this new line of makeup from The Body Shop.

Dr Organic virgin coconut oil day & night cream

We all know the powers coconut oil has on the skin, and these two moisturisers available from Holland & Barrett are brilliant.

I use the day cream in the morning, and the night cream (which is a thicker formula) overnight. They inject some much needed hydration into my face and quite honestly have been a Godsend over the autumn and winter months. Read my review of the Dr Organic virgin coconut oil day & night cream.

The Body Shop pinita colada body scrub

Have The Body Shop released something in 2016 that I haven’t loved? I don’t think so. This Pinita Colada range really was stand out over the summer and so many people loved it from the off, me included.

The Library of Fragrance Four Leaf Clover

This Library of Fragrance Four Leaf Clover scent has been a surprise addition to my 2016 beauty and skincare favourites for me after finding it in TK MAXX over the summer. It’s one of those smells that probably shouldn’t work as a scent, but it totally does.

Rimmel London insta flawless

This Insta flawless product is my absolute go-to for adding some glow to my face, either underneath foundation, or worn on its own.

Vita Liberata luxury tan

I used this on my best friend when she got married back in September and I also use this any time I need a light bronzing to my skin. The product is light, terrific to blend and well pigmented, a little goes a long way!

Hi Impact Brows Palette

This has honestly been one of my most loved products of all the products I have ever received in a beauty box. Since receiving it in February’s Look Fantastic box, I have literally used nothing else since for my brows.

2016 beauty favourites

Wet n’ Wild eye shadow brush

Another of the items I hauled in America last October and I still regret not picking up more brushes from Wet n’ Wild. As you know I own a large collection of makeup brushes but this eye shadow brush is one of the best; it’s excellent for picking up and distributing product and soft to blend.

Stila extreme huge lash mascara and liquid eyeliner

Another of those products this year that once I’ve discovered, I haven’t used anything else since. For me I just love how the mascara upon application makes my lashes full and thick, and doesn’t flake off after a few hours.

While I don’t adore the liquid eyeliner, it has been consistently used since I received it. Sometimes it’s not as jet black as I would like but the nib and pen shape make application for the perfect wing a dream.

Bobbi Brown eye brightener in Bisque

Discovered during my bridal makeup trial that I’ve just loved using. The concealer is wonderful for brightening under my eye area, and the creamy formula makes it blend beautifully.

Bourjois radiance reveal concealer in 01 and 02

This year I decided it was time to explore a new concealer on the high street having been a fan of the Collection Match Perfection ones for years. The packaging aside, I love this concealer as it is creamy, blends lovely and hydrates my skin.

However, what I would say is while the packaging is very pretty, it’s really annoying having to screw the wand back into the tube to get more product out. That’s where the Collection concealers, and even the Bobbi Brown eye brightener, hit the mark.

Bourjois rouge edition velvet lipstick in Plum Plum Girl

I couldn’t have a favourites post and leave out my number one favourite liquid lipsticks could I? Despite the other products I have tried (and equally loved) the Bourjois liquid lipsticks remain number one for their consistency.

Plum Plum Girl was a real challenge to track down, but it was well worth the wait.

What have been your 2016 beauty and skincare favourites?
