American Beauty Haul feat. Sephora, Macy’s and CVS

Hey Sweeties,

I know it has been over a month since I came back from my Honeymoon to the USA – Boston, Washington DC, and Provincetown on Cape Cod- but getting my energy and momentum back up to renew my blogging schedule has been a challenge, I won’t lie. That being said, I am gradually getting back on it and you can look forward to some posts soon all about where I visited on my recent USA trip so do stay tuned (and follow me on Bloglovin’ or my other channels so you don’t miss them!).

It’ll be worth highlighting here that like my Trek America trip a couple of years ago, my holiday budget was more on doing things, than it was for shopping.

Enjoy!

USA Beauty Haul – CVS, Macy’s and Sephora

CVS

Wet N Wild

Since first discovering Wet n Wild back in 2015 when I was on my Trek America trip, I have been desperate to try more from the brand because it is great quality and a very affordable price. However, despite going into several CVS stores across the two weeks I was in America for my honeymoon in early May, I found just one stand and it was on our last day. Unfortunately, I could not pick up any more of their brushes, but I did find a couple of new makeup bits to add to my small collection.

Coloricon eyeshadow collection, 737A Poster Child

I have seen several makeup looks recently that involve bright shades and seeing this palette, I thought it was my opportunity to give some similar looks a go myself. Mostly this involves a flash of colour underneath my lower lashes, so I am excited to try this palette; I particularly like the colours on the right side.

To Reflect Shimmer Palette, A067 Boozy Brunch

It’s leopard, need I say more? A great looking product that I have no doubt will be lovely to wear over the summer.

Milani

Similar to Wet N Wild, whenever I am in the States I always try to pick up some Milani products; again, it’s a good quality, affordable brand. Fortunately, Milani is everywhere in the USA and most CVS stores will have a stand, albeit a small one.

08 Corallina baked blush

What I failed to capture in the photos (apologies), was that this little blush pot lifts up to reveal a concealed compartment/layer inside that stores a brush. I didn’t realise this until I got it home as I kept it sealed until I knew it was safely across the Atlantic, but I heard it rattling which worried me as I thought it was already broken.

Anyway, the thing to know about this blush is the pigment… I put my brush into it and it took a hellava lot of blending to sort out the orange streak I applied to my cheek, ha! So, apply lightly is my advice but it’s very pretty.

03 Beauty’s Touch Illuminating Face Powder

Too pretty to not purchase, am I right? Of course I am. How many face illuminators one needs in a collection is still a question we all ask ourselves but when they are this pretty how can you refuse and/or put a limit on it?

Macy’s

Juicy Couture – Viva La Juicy Gold Couture, 30ml

Juicy Couture fragrances are my favourite and I always try and purchase them in special gift sets or when they are on offer. For me, the fragrance aside, I adore the bottles as they are so pretty and lovely to have on display even when empty.

MAC – Satin lipstick in shade, Amorous

What made me pick up this particular shade I have no idea as I was particularly loving a brighter pink shade. The MAC concession stand in Macy’s proved really hard for me to ignore and this satin finish lipstick fell into my basket. I’ll review this lipstick in its own post soon, like I did for Finally Free and Smoked Purple.

Sephora

In all, I went into the Sephora in Boston just near our hotel about three times: 1. To see what they had; 2. To cost up everything I wanted and work out what was the best value ($-£); and 3. to make my purchases. The unfortunate thing was that come the time I could spend some money, my budget had dropped considerably to only $100 which in Sephora, is actually quite limiting. If I didn’t have a limit, I would have purchased the Anastasia Beverley Hills Modern Renaissance palette; some more Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks; and some products from Makeup Forever etc. in addition to what I did buy –

Benefit – Cheek Parade

Ever since I saw this palette released last year, I fell in love with it instantly and it’s simply been a case of waiting for the right time/opportunity to purchase it. In the UK it’s £50, which while still a lot to drop on a single palette, is amazing value considering what you get inside. In the States, it is $58, which at the time of purchase was a good £10 off the UK price.

I have wanted Dandelion in my collection for ages, but I’ve just never quite parted with the cash for it, and I’ve never tried the Hoola bronzer. So far, this palette has been a great purchase and I’ll get a huge amount of use out of it going forward.

Kat Von D – Lock It loose setting powder

Amen to the miniatures aisle before the checkouts; admittedly it’s a curse too but in my case it was heavens sent. My limited budget really was quite restricting but by being able to purchase smaller versions of items on my wish list was brilliant, as I could still try them out, but without needing full sized products. At least I know then that if I do go on to purchase full sized items, it’ll be justified.

I don’t know about you, but I am quite obsessed with the high glam transformation videos you see on Instagram and they always use a loose setting powder. For I think $15, I took the opportunity to try one this from Kat Von D.

Becca Cosmetics – Glow on the Go, Shimmering Skin Perfector, Opal

I was deliberating over the full sized pans of the Becca highlighters for ages but eventually declined. However, seeing this Glow on the Go kit, which includes a small pan of the pressed luminizing powder and a skin perfector for a bargain $20, was too good to refuse; I will report in time with my review of these products.
