Cosy Dining and Autumnal Vibes at Bill’s Bracknell

Hey Sweeties,

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to try out the newly opened Bill’s* restaurant in Bracknell’s new shopping complex, The Lexicon. Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between, Bill’s has a wide range of seasonal fare on offer, including a brand new autumn menu.

Bill’s Bracknell

I have only been to Bill’s restaurant once or twice before (and I think both times in Windsor), as often trying to get in on a weekend has proved a bit of a mission sometimes, so I was excited to be invited to try out the new restaurant in Bracknell. Also, Bracknell as a place is somewhere I haven’t really had much of a chance to properly visit, so I was keen to see what The Lexicon shopping complex offered local residents and visitors from (slightly) further afield like me.

Interior

Inside, Bill’s Bracknell features a variety of seating from booths to larger sharing tables, and the atmosphere was warm and intimate. The place was busy is its decoration, with lots to look at but all with interest and I loved the variety of lighting which only added to the vibe. At the time of visiting, autumn was in its early phase of beginning to arrive, whereas now Bill’s Bracknell would be wonderfully cosy to visit on a cold evening.

Mains

Presented with the menu, there was a lot to choose from and while the vegetarian and vegan offering was small, it was refreshing not to see a mushroom risotto or unimaginative simple tomato pasta in sight. Instead, there was a rustic butternut squash stew, oven roasted ginger and sesame cauliflower steak, a halloumi burger, or –my personal favourite- macaroni cheese with mushrooms, creamy cheese and truffle sauce. I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries. My friend went for the Bill’s hamburger with added streaky bacon and fries.

The food arrived beautifully presented, it tasted delicious and it was fair to say we were both feeling quite stuffed and we still had dessert to enjoy!

Desserts

I don’t know if I have suggested this much on this blog, but I am a real fan of puddings and I love to finish off a meal, particularly when dining out, with something sweet. Fortunately the Bill’s Bracknell dessert menu was a lot smaller than the main menu, otherwise I think choosing what we wanted might have taken hours. With just a handful of desserts on offer, my friend decided on the lemon meringue Eton mess, and I chose the banana and honeycomb cheesecake.

Both desserts were delicious, the Eton mess perhaps had a touch too much cream, but the guy who brought my cheesecake to the table said it was by far the best dessert on offer and oh my word was he right! If I wasn’t almost full to bursting, I could have eaten another and I will most definitely be ordering it again when I revisit Bill’s Bracknell in the near future.

Overall Impressions: Bill’s Bracknell

My friend and I visited Bill’s on a Thursday evening and the restaurant had an almost constant flow of diners coming and going. I rarely go out for dinner on a Friday or Saturday evening, I generally do prefer either going out to eat on a Thursday or Sunday lunchtime just because it is often a quieter and more laid-back experience.

My experience at Bill’s Bracknell was a friendly, an enjoyable one. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and shown to our table; drink orders were quickly taken and delivered; and the same for our main and dessert courses. Overall, I would most definitely dine at Bill’s Bracknell again in the future. A big thank you to the team for being so welcoming and inviting me to try out their menu.
