Matte Lip Liquid in 022 Paris Peony – New in to The Body Shop

Hey Sweeties,

Following last week’s review of the new Colour Crush Matte Lipstick in shade 429, Osaka Plum, I am excited to talk to you today about the second new lipstick range soon to be hitting The Body Shop -the Matte Lip Liquid.

While I adore The Body Shop for their cruelty free skincare and shower gels, scrubs etc. I haven’t tried much of their makeup so I was excited to give two new products from each range a go; today I am reviewing the shade 022 Paris Peony*.

I’ve got to be honest, I am not as crazy about this product as I was with their Colour Crush matte lipstick which I just adored from the off, but that is by far not meant negatively.

As you guys know, I have quite a vast collection of liquid lipsticks, notably the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets, and the Sleek Matte Me range (I’ve reviewed Velvet Slipper, Birthday Suit). Both of those ranges particularly I love for their ability to stay on all day following one application.

However, not everyone likes or needs a product to last so stubbornly all day and those people will love this new liquid lipstick (matte lip liquid) range from The Body Shop.

Overall, the formula is much lighter than other similar products in my collection, making application extremely easy as not a lot of product collects on the doe foot applicator.

On the lips, the shade is actually not as intense as it appears in the above swatch, but the matte lip liquid however, for those that want a slighter deeper, intense tone the product is perfectly buildable.

I also think 022 Paris Peony is a shade suitable for all year round, and not just the summer months which the shade might suggest. It’s also something you can apply and forget about because even if come lunchtime or so when you need to reapply a fresh coat, the product wears off subtly so you’re not left with patchy looking lips like some more intensely toned shades will do.

To summarise, I think I am unlikely to purchase more from this matte lip liquid range just because I already have firm favourites in my collection, but I still think this is a lovely product and ideal for those that don’t want anything too heavy or matte in a lipstick, and I will will certainly continue to keep using it.

What are your favourite liquid lipsticks?

Until next time x

I have this in the red shade. I have only tried it in store so far but I love it. I only do well with subtle colours in gloss so this matte finish is perfect for me to be able to wear red 🙂 x

Oooo! Well I think you should swatch Paris Peony when you’re next in store because it can be both subtle and bold (for a pink) 🙂 xx
