Sigma Sigmax Kabuki Kit | Blogmas Day 4

Hey Sweeties,

If you cast your mind back to my American Beauty Wish list (here), Sigma make up brushes were on there as I have been looking to upgrade my collection for a while. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to locate them while in the States but quite conveniently, they became available in the UK so I took the opportunity and invested.

I have been using Real Techniques brushes for ages and they still remain some of my favourites but after months of using, the Everyday Face Brush stopped cleaning well and then my next favourite, the Buffing Brush, began malting uncontrollably. Rather than replace them I saw the opportunity to try a different brand and Sigma came out top.

On reflection, I probably only needed to purchase one or two of the brushes rather than a whole collection but I am delighted with the Sigma Sigmax Kabuki Kit, which contains five face brushes: F80 Flat Kabuki; F82 Round Kabuki; F84 Angled Kabuki; F86 Tapered Kabuki; and the F88 Flat Angled Kabuki. All of them have been designed to apply powder, cream and liquid products creating flawless high definition application.

However, one of the things that is said about the brushes is that the bristles don’t absorb the product (i.e. liquid foundation) but I have to disagree with this. The F80 brush is the one I have started using first and while it does apply foundation beautifully, it drinks up the product from the back of my hand like nothing I have yet witnessed before. This has made the brush clog up fairly quickly so weekly brush cleaning is an absolute must. But here presents another disadvantage, maybe it’s just me but they take ages to properly dry, like a good 2-3 days. This is why having a few brushes on rotation definitely works in your favour otherwise you’ll be using your hands!

That being said, everything else about the brushes is true –they are lovely and soft making blending a dream, all the brushes have a lovely smooth thick handle and while I do consider this purchase an investment, I didn’t totally break the bank and individually the brushes are certainly affordable. They also look fabulous, I love the black handle and the silver chrome detail.

In all, I think these a fabulous brushes and investing in Sigma was definitely worth it. Have any of you tried any of the make up brushes from this brand?

Until next time x
