Cast your minds back to earlier in the year when I shared with you my Bridal Makeup Tutorial with Bobbi Brown and the products I purchased to use on my wedding day in April. You’ll remember that I fell in love with the Nude Finish Illuminating Power, but they were sold out at the time, and then so did my budget.
However, when my best friend got married in September, I seized the opportunity to purchase the nude finish illuminating powder to use for our makeup.
When it comes to bridal makeup I have pretty much always had in mind that Bobbi Brown is the absolute go to without any doubt.
Bobbi Brown makeup is loved by MUA’s and brides alike to create that flawless finish every woman wants on her big day. So when it came to my own wedding, I didn’t think to go anywhere else for my bridal makeup tutorial.
A while back now, I said to myself, that if I succeeded in getting a new job I could treat myself to a high-end beauty product or two. For ages I assumed this special purchase would be Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess powder bronzer but when it came to it, I wanted something that would really add to my collection and at the time, I wasn’t sure another bronzer was the right decision.
Also, since making this pact to myself back at the beginning of the year, my situation changed, I did land myself a new job (back in May) but I have also just got engaged (as you know) and on our way back home through London, we diverted into Selfridges so I could make a quick visit to the Charlotte Tilbury stand because if now wasn’t the time to treat myself, when would be?!
Folllowing my series of posts showing you aspects of my makeup collection, blushers were identified as being a real sweet spot for me and a total weakness, with lipstick being a very close second (so Charlotte Tilbury’s Glastonberry is very much next in line!). With this in mind, I made the decision that now made sense to purchase one of Charlotte’s most loved products, her Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop blusher which I got in ‘Ectasy’, and I am so pleased with it!
Beyond how beautiful it is to apply, arguably its most attractive feature is of course the packaging; the blusher comes in the most gorgeous smooth round compact. Inside, the product is encased within a silver ring and the inside of the lid has a big, round mirror. There is literally nothing you can fault with it.
Although I have technically bought high-end before (remember Bobbi Brown’s French Pink Set?), this is my first, full-price planned purchase. So while I will one day (soon maybe) purchase Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess, I am still perfectly satisfied with what is offered on the high street, but as you’ll agree, from time to time, it’s nice to treat yourself to something that bit more special.

A few weeks ago I started a new mini blog series with the intention of taking you through my make-up collection, starting with my foundations (here). Today I thought I would share with you my collection of blushers which, let it be known, are my weakness of all make-up products. I can’t put a definite reason for this but I always feel there is room for a new one, whereas things like eye make-up, you do reach a point where you get every look covered. With blush, I love the application; it’s effortless and girlie and can really compliment complexion.

You’ll be delighted to hear that this is the final product for me to post a review about from my haul at The Cosmetics Company –I appreciate sometimes things can feel repetitive- it’s also the second and final product I bought from the Bobbi Brown stand. So, let’s get down to business.
Bobbi Brown Nail Polish £7.75 RRP £11
Let’s begin with the packaging. This is what first drew my attention to the nail polishes as the bottle is a beautiful but thickly cut cube shape which is lovely to the touch. Branding on the bottle is also kept clean and simple allowing the product to do the selling. The lid is the right size to handle application well as I hate lids that are too big or small making the task that already requires a certain level of accuracy and patience, fiddly. So for me this so far ticks all the boxes. The colour –Tuxedo Black– is wonderfully thick and jet in shade that I found impossible not to apply a layer of one of Barry M’s glitter polishes over the top of to add that bit of festive glitz, perfect you’ll agree for this time of year. I think to be honest I would be unlikely to ever wear it on its own so a bit of sparkle makes all the difference.
Product application is quick and easy and the brush allows for thick strokes so for the most part just one layer is needed. However, my care and attention did slip slightly so some nails did require two layers and application wasn’t always neat around the edges… but hey, we’re not all perfect!
As for durability, I think it lasts really well without chipping. Because it is jet black though nail growth is noticed more easily against other polish colours but I should think this can only be expected. Although black is actually a very easy colour to wear, I think on nails you don’t actually want the colour to be on all week, it’s more of a fun weekend look but this is of course my opinion alone.
Overall, Bobbi Brown’s Tuxedo Black is a quality polish and not too expensive (even at full price) and I would definitely be keen to purchase more from the brand in the future.
