Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blusher | Review

A while back now, I said to myself, that if I succeeded in getting a new job I could treat myself to a high-end beauty product or two. For ages I assumed this special purchase would be Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess powder bronzer but when it came to it, I wanted something that would really add to my collection and at the time, I wasn’t sure another bronzer was the right decision.

Also, since making this pact to myself back at the beginning of the year, my situation changed, I did land myself a new job (back in May) but I have also just got engaged (as you know) and on our way back home through London, we diverted into Selfridges so I could make a quick visit to the Charlotte Tilbury stand because if now wasn’t the time to treat myself, when would be?!

Folllowing my series of posts showing you aspects of my makeup collection, blushers were identified as being a real sweet spot for me and a total weakness, with lipstick being a very close second (so Charlotte Tilbury’s Glastonberry is very much next in line!). With this in mind, I made the decision that now made sense to purchase one of Charlotte’s most loved products, her Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop blusher which I got in ‘Ectasy’, and I am so pleased with it!

Beyond how beautiful it is to apply, arguably its most attractive feature is of course the packaging; the blusher comes in the most gorgeous smooth round compact. Inside, the product is encased within a silver ring and the inside of the lid has a big, round mirror. There is literally nothing you can fault with it.

Although I have technically bought high-end before (remember Bobbi Brown’s French Pink Set?), this is my first, full-price planned purchase. So while I will one day (soon maybe) purchase Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess, I am still perfectly satisfied with what is offered on the high street, but as you’ll agree, from time to time, it’s nice to treat yourself to something that bit more special.

Until next time x

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Chic Fragrance Review

Blogmas day 19

Hey Sweeties,

As you know I recently participated in a promotion with Elle and Estee Lauder as part of the new fragrance, Modern Muse Chic which celebrates the modern, independent woman. You’ll remember that the main element of the day was to appear in a video that would eventually be live on Elle.Com and I can finally share this with you –please click on the link below!

I have seen & been in contact with a couple of the other Elle Insiders since shooting the video and we have all been really keen to see the end result and see how much -if at all- our little individual segments will appear. Personally, I am absolutely delighted with the video and I think everyone involved got involved and I think the final edit is brilliant. Can you spot me?

Now all that is left for me to do is to let you know what I think about the new fragrance, Modern Muse Chic.

Modern Muse Chic

If I am honest, Estee Lauder aren’t particularly a go to brand for young people or at least I don’t think they were pre the signing of Kendall Jenner which happened to be announced to the world on the day of filming the video. The one product I am very keen to get my hands on though is their Bronze Goddess bronzing powder; the packagaing is just beautiful and the product is fantastic but at a pricey £32 I am going to have to be patient for a while and hope I can either afford myself an extravagent reward (for maybe a new job) or be hopefull someone will gift it to me.

Fragrances are one of those things that can be either very right or very wrong and interestingly won’t be the same on everyone so opinion really is personal here. Fortunately for you guys though, I love it!

If I am wearing a fragrance, I don’t want it to be overpowering but I equally don’t want it to be too subtle either and Modern Muse Chic has that great balance I am after.

I also love the bottle; it’s elegant and well… chic! I also like that the lid looks like a bow but with the black studded appearance and texture it gives the whole product an edge which I think is great.

Elle Insider Event with Estee Lauder: Modern Muse

Estee Lauder Modern Muse

Hey Sweeties,

Originally thinking I would have to keep this a secret until later in December; I can in fact share my latest visit to Elle Magazine HQ with you guys now –yippee!

So, earlier this month I was emailed by Elle asking me (an Elle Insider) if I wanted to join Team Elle in the Fashion Cupboard to celebrate Estée Lauder’s new fragrance, Modern Muse Chic. They wanted a selection of Insider’s to go up to HQ and share their stories about who inspires them. Of course I jumped at this opportunity!

So, bright and early (9am to be precise) last Saturday I was in London barefaced and ready for a morning of filming! Once our attendance had been confirmed a week or two before, we were asked to arrive with an answer prepared for this question:

“What is the most inspirational advice I have ever been given by another woman?”

To be honest, this wasn’t as easy to answer as you would think. I read a lot of things that inspire me but inspiration advice I have been told directly? Not so much. However, my mind did cast back to my teen self during my A-Levels which was a miserable time for me and as you can imagine it was difficult for my Mum to see me so regularly stressed out and upset that naturally she wanted to rid me of what was getting me so down. I remember her telling me that I didn’t have to keep with the course, that it was ok to quit and that I had already made her really proud. Of course I didn’t quit but what I took from that moment was that it is important to not do something for the sake of others and for you and you alone. You should be at the heart of all decisions. This for me has been quite inspirational and something I have drawn upon regularly.

Unfortunately, when it came to filming, our prepared paragraphs actually had to be crammed into a mere sentence or two so what that will get edited into I don’t know. Essentially the message I hope to come from my input will be to keep things simple and not overload yourself. But we’ll see, I’ll share the video with you guys once I have been sent it but it’ll also be available to view on Elle.com!

Estee Lauder makeover

One of the perks of the day was being able to get my hair and makeup professionally done!

Modern Muse Chic
Overall the day was really fun and interesting and a BIG thank you goes to Elle and Estee Lauder for allowing people like me to get involved!

Until next time x
