A Choker for Every Taste – Choker Nation Review | Blogmas Day 3

Hey Sweeties,

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by Faith over at Choker Nation, a company she founded back in July this year, specialising in handmade, personalised chokers to suit every taste. Faith kindly sent me some sample chokers and I am excited to show you them on the blog today.

In case you have had your head in the sand, chokers seem to be this season’s big trend in the fashion world. I used to wear choker style necklaces in my very early teens, but I until recently hadn’t revisited the trend.

The Karen Millen A/W16 In Focus Event with Olympus Pen & Inthefrow

Hey Sweeties,

On Wednesday evening last week I attended the Karen Millen A/W 16 In Focus event in partnership with Olympus Pen, at the Covent Garden store. It was an evening of fashion, photography, makeup and champagne and an exclusive one night only 20% discount throughout the store. Also, (and what clinched going to be honest) a chance to meet and attend a workshop with Victoria from IntheFrow to discuss her photography and styling tips.

Meeting Inthefrow

Upon arrival, it felt like we all queued outside the store for ages, before we gradually filtered in. As there were only 40 places available for the workshop, I figured I would miss out as I was never in a hundred years going to get to the event early, but as it happened, I still managed to get a wrist band to attend the second of the two planned workshops with Victoria.

With over an hour to kill before the workshop, which to be honest was a struggle as the only thing to really do was lap the floor of the shop browsing the rails of clothing (with champagne in hand of course). I fell in love with a few items, but unfortunately even with 20% off, they were still just out of my budget for now but I did successfully treat myself to a gorgeous rose gold bangle with pretty crystal encrusted detailing.  I was also given a goody bag following my purchase which contained this beautiful leopard print purse/clutch bag. As you guys know, I love my animal print clothing and accessories, so this a welcome addition to my collection.

When 7:30pm finally came around, (the wait having not been as bad as initially anticipated because I got talking to a few people), those with wristbands got allowed downstairs where Victoria and Jay McLaughlin –a leading British fashion photographer, were waiting for us. Sneakily, I got in a meet and photo with Victoria straight away and she is sooo lovely and friendly, exactly how she appears in her videos. She gave me a hug, thanked me for making the effort to attend the evening, and posed for a couple of photos before we settled ourselves for the workshop.

Meeting Inthefrow

The workshop itself was more a casual chat between Jay and Victoria, than anything practical, although there was the opportunity to try out and play with the new Olympus PEN E-PL8; it’s something I am seriously considering saving up for!

Have any of you guys met Victoria from Inthefrow or any other YouTubers? What were they like?

My Love for Animal Print Fashion & Accessories

Hey Sweeties,

In this post I have collated together some (not all) of my favourite animal print patterned fashion clothing and accessories from my collection, a couple of which you will have seen on either here, or my Instagram… or if you know me personally, on me while out and about, before. It’s also apt that I have been putting together this post at the same time the fashion press has also gone wild for it, so there’s no doubt that currently, animal print patterned clothing and accessories are IN! But this love of animal print won’t disappear with next seasons trends, this has been something I have loved for years and will continue to do so for many more to come.

Let’s be clear, I would NEVER wear or buy real animal fur or skin items, I don’t even like leather jackets to be honest, but I love replica prints as they add so much fun to an outfit, and/or to the home. If you’re not careful, too much print can look a bit road kill (excuse the term), but when partnered correctly with other clothing and accessories, it can look so effective. For me, animal print adds that pop of colour and fun to an outfit or the home that I just adore.

The Patterned Scarf

Quite possibly the easiest way to introduce some print and colour into an otherwise simple and/or plain outfit, and particularly good for those not quite confident enough to wear anything more bold.

A Rural Summer Wedding | Outfit, Makeup & Accessories I Wore

Hey Sweeties,

One of my favourite things about going to a wedding, is seeing how much the day reflects the couple; from the venue, the attire, the decoration and so on. Last weekend, my husband and I were invited to a rural summer wedding reception of two friends and from the invite, we knew it would have a very relaxed vibe to it. For starters, it was buried within a valley and therefore heels were strongly advised against, and when we eventually made it to the location, we were greeted by picnic tables with jars of fresh flowers, and a large open-sided tent situated in the middle of the field. With the sun shining (thank goodness), the place couldn’t have been more reflective of the couple; it was beautiful.

What I wore:

I bought this dress a few months ago from ASOS and I am just so in love with it. I love the peach colour and the lace panelling; it screams summer wedding! As it was high necked, I didn’t need a necklace so I accessorised the look with gold coloured sandals, a light pinky-peach coloured clutch from Head over Heels, and a floral crown (which I think I purchased from H&M a summer or two ago) which was a huge hit with other guests. The only thing I didn’t think about was pairing my outfit with a pashmina for when the night got cold, but I did fortunately have a jumper with me to use as by that time of night, everyone adopted warmth over style.

Makeup

Considering the rural vibe of the wedding as well as taking into consideration my outfit, I wanted to create a look using a palette of pinks and peach tones. For my base I used the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation which I really love for summer, before seizing the opportunity to try out my new Sleek cream contour palette which I purchased in a recent haul (here), that I applied over the top. I have a formal review of the palette coming to the blog very soon so I won’t go into any more detail for now.

In addition to my base I used the Revlon shimmer brick which I am totally loving at the moment for that perfect light pink flush and highlight; a combination of shades from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette for my eyes; Bobbi Brown gel liner which I lightly smudged; and my favourite Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara in intense black. I also used the Hi Impact Brows palette. For a hot day it was a lot of makeup to wear but I loved the completed look and it lasted me well into the night.

As the sun went down, the fairy lights came on, the beats started to drop and the drink flow. The night ended with a large camp fire before we all retired to our tents.

MTV The Hills: Five things I learnt that shaped my twenties

I don’t know about you, but if you’re anything like me I can almost guarantee that you were obsessed with MTV The Hills! I just couldn’t get enough and to this day if I manage to catch re runs on TV, I am still completely absorbed.

Regardless of all the controversy that came out after the show ended, when it was revealed the show was pretty much entirely scripted (which to be honest, we all knew didn’t we!?), there was still a lot to love and a lot to learn as we watched Lauren and the gang forge their careers and life in LA.

Here are my top five lessons I took from MTV The Hills:
