Look Fantastic Beauty Box | January

Hey Sweeties,

Like clockwork, my monthly box of goodies arrived from Look Fantastic and this month -being January- is all about the detox. If I’m totally honest, this month’s box hasn’t thrilled me and I’ve had a couple of the brands before in previous boxes, so I didn’t feel I was getting a lot of new things to try which initially disappointed me. However, let me show you what’s in the box for January.

Disclaimer: Please remember these are my opinions alone and what does/does not work for me might be different for you.

L – R: Kebelo The Ultimate Hair Detox Shampoo; Dr Lancer The Method Polish; Kebelo Silky Soft Smoothness Conditioner; Darphin Azahar Cleansing Micellar Water (50ml); Bellapierre Cosmetics Shimmer Shadow in shade, Earth; Nuxe Nuxellence Detox (15ml).

Kebelo shampoo and conditioner – As mentioned above about how I have already received a couple of the brands before, I received this shampoo in last year’s July box and I don’t particularly remember loving it so to receive it again was annoying. That being said, used in partnership with the conditioner and my opinion changes, but it still doesn’t jump to the top of my favourites. When it comes to hair product samples, I love receiving oils and products to apply before drying and/or texturizing sprays, but shampoos and conditioners really don’t excite me.

Darphin micellar water – Unfortunately, my experience with this micellar water has not been good. I am not dismissing it’s claim that it ‘leaves skin soft, refreshed and feeling smooth and comforted’ as my skin certainly wasn’t agitated following use. My issue actually is how it cleanses. While I am happy to say that it broke down my eye makeup well, it smeared it all over my face in the process and took a further two-three soaked cotton balls to wipe it off. Am I prepared to switch from my current micellar water? Not with this product, no.

Bellapierre Cosmetics shimmer shadow in Earth –I initially dismissed this little pot of colour from Bellapierre Cosmetics having already received another of their shimmer shadows in my August box last year. With no disrespect at all to the brand as it was a lovely product, I have just struggled to use it because I don’t often have call for metallic glittery silver eye shadow. However, upon closer inspection of this month’s product, I realised that this was in fact a very wearable shade -almost like a cooper/rose gold- and it has very quickly become my favourite product in this month’s box. While it is loose powder and needs handling with care, it packs onto my eyelids beautifully as an all over base colour, which accompanied with a darker brown in the crease looks totally gorgeous.

I have yet to use the Dr Lancer The Method Polish and Nuxe Nuxellence Detox which is an anti-aging cream to apply in the evenings before night cream, but because I love their hand cream and still have a previous sample sat on my desk at work, I’m sure I’ll love this too.

Did any of you get this month’s box and/or have tried any of the featured products? I’m really looking forward to next month’s box as it’s Valentine’s themed so be sure to come back and check it out.

Until next time x

Look Fantastic Beauty Box | October & November

Hey Sweeties,

First of all I have to apologise as I failed to upload a review of last month’s beauty box, but in my defence, I was away for most of it in America and I didn’t want to post without actually giving some/all of the products a proper trial. So if you’ll forgive me, I have included both the October and November Look Fantastic Beauty Box in this post. Here goes –

October Box

Contents: Elemis Hydra-Balance Day Cream; Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser; Percy & Reed Smoothed, Sealed and sensational No Oil Oil; (not pictured) Nuxe Rêve De Miel Hand & Nail Cream; Monu Firming Moisturiser; Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) Eye shading brush; and Balance Me radiance Face Mask.

Firstly I have to highlight that the Balance Me radiance face mask wasn’t featured within the supporting booklet that accompanies the box each month, which makes me wonder if this is a rogue item that snuck its way in? As yet I haven’t tried this product out but while I have been vocal previously about getting a little bored with this brand constantly arriving in my boxes, I like that it’s a face mask to try out that isn’t in one of those annoying sachets.

I was pleased to see in this box a variety of creams and moisturisers to try out and even though the Elemis day cream and the Monu firming moisturiser are nice to use, I personally find them too scented for my liking. Some won’t mind this and the scents definitely aren’t bad but I just prefer something very subtle if at all in these types of facial products.

As soon as the box arrived and I viewed the contents, I whipped out the Nuxe hand & nail cream and put it straight in my purse, hence why it missed being photographed. However it is a lovely product that is nice to apply and leaves your hands moisturised without being left sticky. It is also very lightly scented which on your hands is completely fine and a nice feature.

I have also really enjoyed the Murad exfoliating cleanser as it is not as harsh as others I use. When I say ‘harsh’ I don’t imply this negatively as once or twice a week it’s good to exfoliate the skin, but this one from Murad feels much gentler.

LGFB “is the only worldwide cancer charity providing practical support for women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effects of their cancer treatment. 12% from all sales of this brush collection will be donated to the charity.” This eye shading brush from their range is a total delight to use and so soft. The handle is also the perfect size to sit comfortably in your hand. I have actually recently started seeing these brushes appear in various TK MAXX stores so if you see them yourself they would be well worth a go; not to mention that you would be supporting a great cause at the same time.  View Full Post
