Look Fantastic #LFHelloBeautiful May Beauty Box

Hey Sweeties,

The focus of this month’s Look Fantastic Beauty Box is to celebrate natural beauty, supported by the #LFHELLOBEAUTIFUL campaign. With summer approaching, we are entering a time where it’s about less is more and going after that summer glow using products that enhance what we have naturally, instead of piling on product. In response to this, I really appreciate any product, particularly skincare, that specifically focusses on brightening and adding radiance into your skin.

So, with that all in mind, let’s take a look inside this month’s box –

#LFHELLOBEAUTIFUL

#LFHELLOBEAUTIFUL

L-R: IOMA Optimum Moisture Cream; REN night-time facial; Revlon Uniq One all in one hair treatment; Wet Brush; Eve Lom cleanser; Vichy Liftactiv.

#LFHELLOBEAUTIFUL

Wetbrush: Having received several sample size brushes recently, including a Wet Brush one, I was delighted to see a full sized brush this month and it has instantly replaced my tired Denman hair brush. It’s comfortable to hold, glides through tangled wet hair, and I have found it has been good for styling as well. Definitely one to add to your wish list!

Eve Lom: This wasn’t actually featured in the booklet that comes with each box which has happened a few times lately, I was also potentially supposed to receive something from Decleor but who knows eh? Anyway. While I haven’t tried this specific cleanser supplied this month, I do already have two cleansers from Eve Lom, both of which I like. I was however delighted at receiving a new muslin cloth!

#LFHELLOBEAUTIFUL

Ren“This overnight treatment from REN combines Glycolic and Lactic Acids to brighten and refine the skin tone.” The advice is to apply onto cleansed skin at night after moisturising, and I’ve got to say I really like this product. Anything that makes my skin feel radiant and hydrated is always going to be a winner, and after a night’s sleep, my skin really does feel great in the morning which makes such a difference to the start of my day.

#LFHELLOBEAUTIFUL

Vichy“The Liftactiv moisturiser from Vichy has been specially formulated to firm and tone the skin; targeting signs of fine lines and wrinkles. It evens out skin tone, brightens the complexion and delivers intense hydration”. Recently I have started to really think about my skincare and that, with my final year of my twenties approaching on the horizon, it might not be a bad idea to start thinking about increasing the quality of some of the products I use, specifically tackling areas that down the line, I might wish I had thought about protecting and tackling sooner. I hate to say ‘anti-ageing’ but fundamentally that’s what it comes down too and so it’s time I started taking note of what I need to start incorporating into my routine. With that in mind, this product from Vichy couldn’t be better timed. Currently I have been using this as my morning moisturiser but I think it would equally work well at night, as similar to the above REN night-time facial, you can really feel the ingredients getting to work on your skin and reaping the benefits.

The next thing I need to overcome in my skincare journey is spending more than £20 on a single product; I have tried out some really fabulous products lately (i.e. the NUXE Nuxellence Detox -£48 for 50ml!- I am seriously pining for) but my reluctance to increase my skincare budget means I just have to lust, rather than buy and enjoy them. I know I need to just bite the bullet but I’m still in the process of psyching myself up for it. Also, my 12-month subscription to Look Fantastic is coming to an end next month (I think), and so it would then be a good time to reflect on the products I have received during this time, and decide what I would like to purchase in full going forward.

#LFHELLOBEAUTIFUL

Revlon: “This special hair treatment actually has 10 benefits that give you gorgeously healthy, shiny and protected hair…” Of the two Uniq One products that could be received, I got the Coconut hair treatment and while it smelled nice and applied fine, it didn’t particularly wow me. I have gained a lot of hair care samples over the last 11 or so months through beauty boxes and in that time I have definitely discovered some favourites, and unless I notice a real difference quickly or just really enjoy using the product, the others just kind of add to the pile to use later… and this product from Revlon is the latter, but ask me again in a couple of months and it might be a different story.

#LFHELLOBEAUTIFUL

IOMA“Enriched with PA Reviviscience which strengthens the skin’s natural barrier against environmental aggressors alongside Osmhydran which helps the skin to hold onto moisture; these moisturising tablets will leave your skin feeling perfectly soft and radiant”.  Of the box contents this month, this is the only product (if we excuse Eve Lom for reasons mentioned above) that I have yet to try so far, but just from the write up, I am positive that these will be of a similar quality to the Vichy and the REN products, and I love that these are travel size.

Have you guys tried the Look Fantastic May box or any of the products mentioned above? Thoughts?

April beauty box by Look Fantastic: What’s in the box?

Is it me, or has Look Fantastic really upped their game recently with the design of their beauty boxes?! Last month’s beauty box was beautiful, and then it gets topped (and beaten) with this April beauty box!

Product wise, I’ll be honest, while there are a couple of lovely products included this month, overall the selection hasn’t excited me hugely.

Lately I am finding I am getting duplicates of products (and never the ones I want seconds of), but that’s not to say I haven’t discovered some real gems during my 12-month subscription to Look Fantastic, the February box particularly was a real highlight of late.

Let’s have a look at the products featured in the Look Fantastic April beauty box:

Look Fantastic Beauty Box: March

Hey Sweeties,

I know we’re now well into April, but I’m still playing catch up with myself following my wedding and the interruption that caused to scheduling of content on here, so bear with me. But that all being said, here’s what arrived in last month’s (March) Look Fantastic beauty box:

Look Fantastic Beauty Box March

How gorgeous does this box look?!

In the box L-R: Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water; Revlon Colourburst Lip Balm; Emergen-C Energy Release & Immunity Support.

Outside the box L-R: First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream; Codage Masque Hydratant Moisturising Mask; Lottie London Eyeshadow Brush; Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse (anti fatigue moisturising cream).

Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water: It amazes me lately how micellar water can differ between brands, and not all for the good. This one from Caudalie however does the job perfectly adequately, breaking up and removing eye makeup gently and effectively.

Revlon Colourburst Lip Balm: Following my disappointment with the Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon received in the Glamour Summer Edit Beauty Box last year, I was preparing myself for a similar experience with this version from Revlon. Fortunately, while it isn’t still quite up to the standard of the Rimmel Colour Rush Balms (review here) which to me are unbeatable, this particular product takes a respectable second place -it applies smoothly, has a light pigment and feels moisturising. Apparently this balm can also be applied onto cheeks too, so for that on to go touch up, particularly during the summer months, some will find this product ideal.

Look Fantastic Beauty Box March

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: I have wanted to try something from the First Aid Beauty range for ages so I was delighted to see this product in the box this month. However, unfortunately I am not in need currently of a repair cream so while I can confirm its a perfectly good cream, I can’t comment on its repairing capabilities. It does claim though that “after two weeks continuous use, clinically proven to deliver 169% improvement in skin hydration…” so definitely a product to keep to hand.

Lottie London Eyeshadow Brush: I have heard very mixed reviews about the Lottie London makeup brushes as I think people get carried away with their prettiness, and then find they don’t quite live up to expectation. For me, yes this brush is very pretty and is a welcome addition to my collection to add a pop of colour, and yes it’s a perfectly okay eyeshadow brush to apply product. At this stage, I can’t say more than that really but I guess if you’re new to beauty, particularly if you are or have teenagers, this would be a good entry level set. Personally though, the ones to beat are Real Techniques and I don’t think Lottie London are yet at that standard.

Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse (anti fatigue moisturising cream): This is a lightweight moisturiser designed to reduce redness and inflammation and is recommended to apply after cleansing in the mornings. That is what I have been doing and I have to say I really like this product, but it just reinforces how much I love Nuxe as a brand which is definitely one of the positives of subscribing to the Look Fantastic monthly beauty boxes.

From the box I am yet to try the, Codage Masque Hydratant Moisturising Mask, and the Emergen-C Energy Release & Immunity Support sachets which are like an orange flavoured fizzy drink -bit unsure about them to be honest but something to have in the cupboard in case I change my mind.

Look Fantastic Beauty Box | February

Hey Sweeties,

Another month, another Look Fantastic Beauty Box to reveal to you! As this box has been themed around Valentine’s Day, I did want to get this post up earlier than usual to coincide with the occasion, but my Postman wasn’t on the same kind of schedule, nor did he leave it where he usually does and instead took it back to the depot. Forgive me.

Overall -as you’ll soon read- this has been another excellent box to receive as there were a couple of lovely new products to try. However, my one complaint about the box, call it minor if you will, was that most of the products inside were terribly dirty, like they had been sat on a shelf for months and no one bothered to give them a quick wipe before packing. Like I said call it a minor complaint but anything else that was received in a similar way that money had been spent on, and you wouldn’t be impressed either.

So, without further ado, here are this month’s contents and my particular favourites:

Look Fantastic Beauty Box February

Contents: MonuSpa relaxing Bali Massage & Body Oil; TIGI Bed Head; Hi Impact Brows Eyes & Brow Perfector Palette; Lord & Berry Matte Lipstick Pencil; Denman Mini Keyring Brush; Pink Grapefruit & Aloe by Bliss Body Butter.

Look Fantastic Beauty Box February

Pink Grapefruit & Aloe by Bliss Body Butter: One of the best features about this product is the fact that it comes in a tube and not in a tub, which makes it not only far easier to transport around, but it also makes general use and application so much easier. I am not for one minute suggesting that I hate tubs of body butter as they most certainly serve their purpose in their own right, but a handy little tube is a welcome addition. A tub allows you to scoop out a decent amount of product which works fine when you’re wanting to cover large areas of your body, but when you just want to use the product lightly and maybe for a focussed area that needs some welcome moisturising (i.e. on your shins to cope with chapping in cold weather), a tube is brilliant.

The body butter itself is lovely and smells gently of grapefruit which I think in skincare is a well-suited scent. In the September box I received a face wash from Bliss which I actually really enjoyed using and finished the bottle in no time, the only thing that I don’t find hugely appealing is the appearance of the packaging; I just find the font, the colours and the imagery –particularly on this month’s product a bit teenage. But if I was a teenager, I would have no complaints so in the grand scale of things, my one negative isn’t really a negative at all.

Look Fantastic Beauty Box February

I already use a Denman brush as the quality of the bristles is far, far better than other (cheaper) hairbrushes I have previously used. To be honest, there isn’t a lot to say about this mini version except that it’s mini and ideal to pop in your handbag when you need it. Can’t say more than that really.

Look Fantastic Beauty Box February

LORD & BERRY Lipstick Pencil: This is a fantastic product and not only is it my favourite item from within this month’s box, it is also currently a favourite among my lipstick collection. As you guys well know, I love a matte lip as I like something that really absorbs and doesn’t budge, and this lipstick pencil from Lord & Berry does just that. What I love about the brand is that their products (for both eyes and lips) glide on easily, are well pigmented, and last extremely well. What you get with this pencil is the accuracy of a liner upon application, and the quality of a decent lipstick. The colour of this lipstick pencil is also beautiful -a very wearable everyday nudey pink. A very big thumbs up from me!

Hi Impact Brows Eyebrow Colour Palette: Another great product in this month’s Look Fantastic beauty box. Until this point I have just been using an old brown eye shadow to fill in my brows each day and here I now have a palette which has far better suitable shades for me to use. I haven’t tried using them as eyeshadows yet but for brows, the pigment is excellent, the quality is excellent and overall, I think this palette is truly excellent!

Have you guys got this box or tried any of the products featured? What do you think?

Look Fantastic Beauty Box | October & November

Hey Sweeties,

First of all I have to apologise as I failed to upload a review of last month’s beauty box, but in my defence, I was away for most of it in America and I didn’t want to post without actually giving some/all of the products a proper trial. So if you’ll forgive me, I have included both the October and November Look Fantastic Beauty Box in this post. Here goes –

October Box

Look Fantastic October beauty box

Contents: Elemis Hydra-Balance Day Cream; Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser; Percy & Reed Smoothed, Sealed and sensational No Oil Oil; (not pictured) Nuxe Rêve De Miel Hand & Nail Cream; Monu Firming Moisturiser; Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) Eye shading brush; and Balance Me radiance Face Mask.

Firstly I have to highlight that the Balance Me radiance face mask wasn’t featured within the supporting booklet that accompanies the box each month, which makes me wonder if this is a rogue item that snuck its way in? As yet I haven’t tried this product out but while I have been vocal previously about getting a little bored with this brand constantly arriving in my boxes, I like that it’s a face mask to try out that isn’t in one of those annoying sachets.

I was pleased to see in this box a variety of creams and moisturisers to try out and even though the Elemis day cream and the Monu firming moisturiser are nice to use, I personally find them too scented for my liking. Some won’t mind this and the scents definitely aren’t bad but I just prefer something very subtle if at all in these types of facial products.

As soon as the box arrived and I viewed the contents, I whipped out the Nuxe hand & nail cream and put it straight in my purse, hence why it missed being photographed. However it is a lovely product that is nice to apply and leaves your hands moisturised without being left sticky. It is also very lightly scented which on your hands is completely fine and a nice feature.

I have also really enjoyed the Murad exfoliating cleanser as it is not as harsh as others I use. When I say ‘harsh’ I don’t imply this negatively as once or twice a week it’s good to exfoliate the skin, but this one from Murad feels much gentler.

LGFB “is the only worldwide cancer charity providing practical support for women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effects of their cancer treatment. 12% from all sales of this brush collection will be donated to the charity.” This eye shading brush from their range is a total delight to use and so soft. The handle is also the perfect size to sit comfortably in your hand. I have actually recently started seeing these brushes appear in various TK MAXX stores so if you see them yourself they would be well worth a go; not to mention that you would be supporting a great cause at the same time.  View Full Post
