The Glamour Summer Edit Beauty Box

Hey Sweeties,

As I mentioned in last week’s Tuesday post, I have treated myself to the Latest in Beauty Glamour Summer Edit beauty Box. Until recently (winning) a subscription to Look Fantastic, it’s been a while since purchasing a beauty box although I get emailed about them all the time! Sometimes I find that while it’s good to be exploring new brands and products, unless they really are outstanding they just fall to the back of my makeup drawer(s) and clutter unnecessarily. However, from time to time there will be a box that is just too good to miss and this is exactly the case for this box.

The Glamour Summer Edit box

The contents of the box consist of: Vita Liberata Luxury Tan + brush; L’Occtaine shampoo and conditioner; Pixie Glow Tonic; Seekers of the Sun Luxury Temporary Tattoos; Balance Me Super Toning Body Polish; Eucerin Sun Care; Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish; Caudalie Divine Oil; Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon.

Here are what I have tried so far and my thoughts…

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon

Bourjois Colour Boost

You guys know how faithful I am to my Rimmel Colour Rush Balms (here) so I was excited to see this Color Boost Lip Crayon from Bourjois; I LOVE their Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks (here) so my expectations were high for this product.

However, first impressions are not great. I love the bright, vibrant pink tone of the crayon but where the Rimmel Colour Rush balms apply and don’t budge, the Bourjois crayon seemed to slip off quite easily and definitely doesn’t last the 10 hours it claims. I also wasn’t overly impressed with application. I’ll try and persist to give it the benefit of the doubt but so far I am a little bit disappointed and I’ll be sticking to Rimmel.

Pixie Glow Tonic

Seeing this product in the collection was certainly one of the factors that made me click ‘buy’! it’s one of those products that is hyped all over the blogosphere but have yet to try for myself so I seized the opportunity while I had the chance.

I have got a bit chilled with toning lately as one of my skin care steps and I have only really ever used The Body Shop‘s Tea Tree Toner, which sometimes seems to leave my face a bit stingy. Pixie Glow Tonic, judging only from this small sample is actually a really nice product. Mostly I just use it in the morning after cleansing rather than in the evenings but you can of course do both, and I like how it seems to wake my skin up a little. I think in the box there was a money off voucher for Pixie so I am definitely inclined to look into purchasing a full size bottle (price depending) and giving this product a really good go.

Vita Liberata Luxury Tan

Vita Liberata Luxury Tan

I am usually a bit weary of products that claim to tan you, albeit temporarily as you can never be sure how much colour and how dark is going to be applied. This is why I avoid moisturisers that gradually tan your body. Fortunately I am someone that doesn’t mind being a bit pale and also, when the sun is out I do tan naturally quite easily.

Anyway. I say all this because this product is marketed as the ‘first-ever self-tanning bronzer’ -leaving skin with a natural looking tan for up to 5 days. The self-tanning aspect aside, the product itself is beautiful and the brush is incredibly soft and picks up the product well. As for application, this is great for an all over dusting or can be taken slightly heavily to sculpt out cheek bones but of course just be careful as the more applied, the more it will tan. The product also blends fantastically.

Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish

Nails Inc polish

I haven’t actually properly tried this yet as I think you have to be in the mood for pink nails, but it’s easy to see that the colour of this Nails Inc. polish is bright and vibrant. As it’s ‘gel effect’ it should be fairly thick in consistency so it sets hard but provides a beautiful glossy finish. So far I have yet to be convinced otherwise by this product so I’ll let you know when I am in the mood for pink nails -keep an eye on my Instagram feed!

Balance Me Super Toning Body Polish

This is now the second Balance Me product I now own in as many weeks following receiving the Look Fantastic June Box (here). From the packaging, rightly or wrongly I assumed that it would have a slightly fruity smell to it but this is not the case. It’s not unpleasant by any means but I was hoping for something slightly nicer. That being said, this is a great all over body exfoliator that is very easy to use in the shower once or twice a week. I would happily recommend this product if you’re on the look out for one yourself.

Have any of you got this box? What are your favourite products? Or are you already familiar with any of the contents?

Until next time x

This box is adorable, and the products look pretty amazing. I’m currently looking for new subscriptions and I think your review convinced me.

I’ve had this box 🙂 it was good stuff, but I only really kept the nail polish and the glow tonic (would have kept the chubby stick but got a colour I didn’t want 🙁 ). Loving the glow tonic! Like you I havnt tried the nail polish as well.
